Whitehaven Sports CentreThere are many sporting and leisure facilities and services in Whitehaven.

For those who want a rigorous work out to those just want to relax. Whitehaven Sports Centre, Copeland Pool, Copeland Bowls Centre - [this is located in the nearby town of Cleator Moor, and is run by the Council who include this facility as an option with ticket sales to their other facilities] are community facilities run by the Council and offer a range of choice of activities throughout the day and evenings, for all levels of skill.

Whitehaven Golf CourseThe Whitehaven Golf Course, a recently created 18-hole course, has magnificent views of the Lake District and the Solway - this more than compensates if the playing doesn't go too well! There is a club house with excellent restaurant, professional shop and visitors are welcome.

Castle Park, a public area of woodland and maintained open space has a kids play area, and St. Nicholas and Trinity Garden's offer restful areas in which to relax and enjoy the award-winning landscaped fauna and flora.

Tourism and Heritage walks, helping you to explore the rich heritage of the town are available from The Beacon Heritage Centre & Museum on the Harbourside and the TIC in the Market Place.

A bonus, not afforded to many areas, is Whitehaven's close proximity to the Lake District National Park. The 'quieter' areas of this magnificent area lie within a few miles of the town. The Ennerdale Valley is virtually on the town's doorstep.

The surrounding natural environment provides a wealth of opportunity for activity for all ages. The superb mountains and valleys are complimented by the equally admirable coastal region. Beaches, cliffs, panoramic views of Scotland and The Isle of Man, RSPB Reserve, Coast to Coast walk, C2C Cycleway starting point, heritage features and the regenerated and landscaped harbour area are all readily available to enjoy.
